My Poor Baby!

To make a long story short...when I was 37 weeks along they wanted to do an ultrasound to find out how big Logan was going to be. While they were doing the ultrasound they found out that part of Logan's right kidney (the "Pelvis") is too small, which means that the fluids could get backed up in there and cause a bladder or kidney infection. They couldn't do anything about it at the time, so they scheduled him to have an ultrasound done a few months after he was born. We just the appointment this past week. He did really well during the ultrasound, and then we had to go to a baby Urologist and have him read us the results. This isn't a serious condition by any means, again, the worst thing that could happen (we hope) is a bladder infection. The doctor said though that it hasn't gotten any better (the tube- Pelvis- hasn't gotten any bigger), so they have to do a couple more tests on him. They need to see how well the fluids move throughout that kidney and they also need to see how well (or if) that kidney functions. Our poor little man has to have a catheter put in (ya...you know where) and then they will be able to do all their tests through that...essentially! These tests aren't until the end of February. My poor baby! It is never fun seeing your baby on a hospital bed.
(Lest I make you all panic...this "condition" (UPJ) really isn't a big deal. The doctor told us over and over again that he will be fine, live a normal life, and that this may never, ever bother him. He should be just fine!)
We will keep you posted!

Oh, that is so hard. I hope everything is done and over with in the least amount of time.

Poor baby Logan! Did you see Dr. Skoog? Do they have to inject him with dye stuff when they do the cath? I'm so sorry! Even though it's not a horrible problem it's still your baby! At least he's still so little.

Poor Logan, I hope everything goes fine for him. Its horrible to see your baby on a hospital bed. When Olivia was about 7months old she got really sick and we had to spend 2 days in the hospital, it was horrible. Keep us posted on how everything goes.

I'm surfing around & happened on your blog tonight... Poor kid! And no matter how big or small the problem is~ It's painful to see your little one tied to tubes and lines.

I hope everything is just fine~ He's the cutest little guy!

You tell those mean old doctors that they better be careful and nice to little Logan. And if he starts to cry then just forget it and scoop him up and take him for some ice-cream or something! Mean old nasty doctors!
