Our beautiful little girl, Oaklie was born on February 10 at 2:08 pm.! I can hardly believe she is 5 days old already. The time is flying by way too fast.
Here is a brief description of my labor/delivery. Things went so fast; I went in around 8:30 in the morning on Friday and they immediately went to work putting in an IV and turned on the Pitocin.
Every little bit our nurse would come in and turn up the Pitocin. I started feeling contractions right away but they were very bearable for the first few hours. Around 10:30 I got the epidural. I knew I was going to get it, so why wait? Right after getting the epidural the doctor came in and broke my water and then things really started to kick in.
Just like with Shaffer, the epidural only numbed one side of me. I could still feel most everything on my right side. The annethesiologist came in and tried to fix it several times and gave me more and more medicine but I could still feel everything. It took several hours before things got completely numb. By then my left side was completely dead.
I had just gotten numb when at 1:50 our nurse came and checked me to see what progress I had made and she said I was completely ready to begin pushing! That was the best news ever.
She got everything ready, called the doctor. He came and I pushed 1 1/2 times and she was born! Happy happy joy joy!
Oaklie is a teeny tiny thing- she was 6 lbs., 4 oz. and 18" long. She has a little bit of dark brown hair and is to-die-for adorable.
We'll see if she's a thumb sucker like her brother Logan is. She has found her thumb several times since then!
I was on cloud 9 the whole time we were in the hospital. I have never had a more spiritual experience than I had after having her. I felt like Heavenly Father was there with us in the hospital- watching over us, sharing our joy, providing me with this amazing opportunity to be a mom & to have a little girl.
We have seen so many miracles in our lives lately and I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers!
Josh is the best dad in the world. I can't say enough good things about him. I am so grateful to share my life (& eternity) with him. He has taken this whole week off of work and has been a tremendous help- I am dreading having him go back to work on Monday.
Oaklie is such a sweet baby. All I want to do is hold her 24/7 and oogle over her. She has the most beautiful eyes and the cutest dimple in her left cheek.
I can't believe how infatuated with her I am. I am completely smitten and feel so much happiness right now. Because we've been thrown off schedule a bit I haven't spent as much time saying my prayers or reading my scriptures, which normally give me my spiritual fill for the day, but even though I am not doing as well with that I feel like the Spirit is even stronger in my life all because of her! She is a powerful influence for good. I want to pause our lives right now and not let the time keep ticking on.
Our poor boys were sick the first few days after having Oaklie. In fact, they are still getting better but they were really sick when she was first born. They came to the hospital but we made them keep their distance. They stayed with Josh's parents for a full 4 days (bless their amazing hearts), and then we finally brought them home on Monday night!
It was nice to have a few more days with just Oaklie, me and Josh. We really missed our boys but it was wonderful to have some one on one time just the three of us.
With that being said, it is so nice to have the boys back. They are in love with Oaklie. Logan is especially interested in her. He asks if he can hold her a lot. If she is napping in the other room he asks me 200 times if we can go and get her. If she is crying he and Shaffer come right up next to her and say, "It's okay, Sweetie! It's okay!". They are theee best big brothers.
Like I've said a million times, I just can't get enough of my baby girl. She is wonderful and I couldn't be happier. I am so grateful that she is healthy and that everything went well with labor & delivery. I am grateful for Heavenly Father who hears and answers my prayers.

Now...here's hoping that I can survive the next few weeks once Josh goes back to work and we're in the middle of a big move. =)

Just can't get enough of these pictures!! Love them all - but, especially the one of Logan holding her. So sweet :)
Oh Jena, she really is so precious. I started tearing up just reading your post. Here's to an easy transition to 3...I'm sure you will take it all in stride!
Congratulations lady!! Having babies is so special and wonderful. I am so glad you are enjoying it so much. I loved having three! (I mean, I love having four too, but three was a great, easy transition for me). Oaklie is such a doll!
Glad everything went well. She is so super cute. It's so fun to have atleast one boy and one girl and get to experience both!
So adorable. She is precious. Congratulations. Sounds like such an amazing experience. I love reading about how babies are first brought into the world. I remember feeling so ecstatic and elated for awhile after having Arlo. I would get tears of joys all of the time. Thank you for sharing your story with us and for the beautiful photos of your little princess! Good luck on the move!
What a sweetheart she is. How fun to have a girl after those 2 adorable boys! I'm sure she'll grow up being as beautiful and amazing as her mother. good luck on your move and getting settled.
