I finally did it- I ran a half marathon. That's been something that I've wanted to do for a while but haven't had the guts to do...until last weekend.
Josh and I got to run the Vigor half marathon down Big Cottonwood canyon in SLC.
It was amazingly fun! It was a really fast course because the whole thing is downhill (literally the entire thing). I don't like uphill, so it was a perfect course for me.
First things first- I experienced a million miracles during this half. I'd be incredibly selfish if I didn't acknowledge Heavenly Father for His help during that run. (No nerves, no stomach cramps, felt strong, went fast, happy happy, joy joy, handsome husband to run with, gorgeous scenery, etc...)
The entire thing was a blast. I felt comfortable the entire time and strong at the end. I'm sure my next one will probably be the exact opposite but for now I'm enjoying the "runner's high".
Josh and I ran a 1:38:40; we came in 25th and 26th overall (there were only 200 people, so it's really not anything to brag about).
I love running because it reminds me of the goodness of God. It makes me grateful for good health and the freedoms that it brings. It reminds me that I can do hard things!
