Baby baby

We get to have one of these again:

....and we are pretty dang excited about it (...to say the least)!

Baby #3 is due February 17th, 2012. We had our first doctor appointment today and were able to hear the baby's heartbeat! (Insert heavenly sighs here!) They didn't do an ultrasound which I was completely and utterly bummed about, and turns out they won't until 20 weeks...which tries my patience on about every level. I was really hoping to SEE my baby (...and to be sure we aren't having twins because I've had visions of us losing our minds with twin babies.) I will try to be really good and patient for 10 more weeks until we get to SEE baby boy or girl.
(Advice Q: They do elective ultrasounds for a small fee starting as early as 16 weeks to tell the gender of the baby. I praised heaven (literally...not sacrilegiously) when I saw that today...my only question is: Is 16 weeks too early to tell? We found out with Logan at 17 weeks but he was a boy so I know that can be more obvious. What if it's a girl...is it still that obvious or no? To wait or to jump on the chance the very first second I possibly can?)

I am (nearly) 10 weeks along and can hardly wait to be out of the first trimester. I am ready to not be sick and nauseous every waking moment, and to finally have some energy again. I lack serious amounts of that stuff these days. The only good thing about being nauseous all the time is that I absolutely can't stand sweets. SHOCKING, I know! I really wish that I hated sweets all the time...I'd have some serious good self-esteem. (It's amazing what not gorging on junk food al day does to your body image...Hmmm...go figure.)

Shaffer and the baby will be nearly 2 1/2 years apart. I am a bit nervous about having 3 kids 3 1/2 and under, but on the other hand we know close and we know insanity, so why not bring on some more?

The count down begins...

They tried to tell us what we were having with Bradlee at 17 weeks and couldn't tell. We had to wait 4 more weeks to find out, but I don't know if that is normal with girls or if we were just unlucky. Congratulations!!!

What great news! They should be able to tell gender then IF the baby is cooperating. Anna was breech at 20 weeks and they had a hard time telling us for sure. We found out for sure at a much later ultrasound. Congrats!

Congrats! I have to disagree with Gemia, I think 3 is way harder than 2. But with your first two being so close together, I'm sure you're a pro and will do great. Hope you feel better soon!

Yay! The official blog announcement! Are you a bit relieved that you didn't hear 2 heartbeats...or a bit bummed? :) I opinion is wait until 20 weeks to learn the gender. It IS harder to tell if it's a girl early on. Even when I was at 20 week and went in for my appointment, the chick took a look at Saige and said with zero confidence "And....it looks like......a......girl". They grabbed a second person to confirm. The waiting is the hardest part! But whatever you want, go for it!

haha - why not? Congratulations. I hear you on the hating sweets - I was totally the same - hardly any chocolate & no ice cream for nearly 3 months. That's NOT normal

I had to have an emergency ultrasound at 15 weeks and they told me then that we were having a girl. I didn't have another ultrasound the rest of that pregnancy and we did, in fact, have a girl. To be sure you should definitely wait until the 20 week mark. I secretly hope it's a girl.
